Cardiff Airport has entered into a new partnership with Dragon Digital to offer brand new advertising opportunities for businesses across Wales and further afield.
The 6m x 3m LED digital screen – which has been located in prime position directly outside the front of the terminal – is visible to customers preparing to depart, and will also be one of the first things visitors will see on their arrival into Wales.
With the support of Route Media, Dragon Digital will facilitate Cardiff Airport’s new ‘out of home’ advertising space, providing businesses with new opportunities to showcase their products and services to an audience of more than 1.6 million passengers who travel through Wales’ national airport every year.
Mike Roche, Director at Dragon Digital, commented: “We are delighted to have played a key role in the delivery of the first digital ‘out of home’ advertising platform at Cardiff Airport.
“The large LED screen will provide Cardiff Airport with a changeable communication tool and offer organisations an opportunity to advertise in a more dynamic way on a digital screen.”
Dean Jones, Managing Director of Route Media, added: “Route Media is really pleased to have secured this prime location as part of its growing inventory. Cardiff Airport is in a great place at the moment and advertisers will now have top quality digital inventory to add into their marketing campaigns.”

There’s more to deciding on a signage solution than you may think. You need the right combination of organisation, materials and trusted people. We’ve put together some top tips to help you strike the right balance when considering a signage solution:
This may seem like an obvious one but take a step back. What do you want your signage to do for you? If it’s to tell passers-by that yes indeed this is your business, then consider how much information should be displayed. If you’ve got a car wrap, how does your brand translate? Will the car door open leave your brand unrecognisable?
Think about getting the best from the space you have available. Signage can be used in many ways on a number of durable materials. If you are considering internal office signage, look around the interiors, is there large wall space that can be wrapped or mounted for added visual effect?
From LED to lit backings, there are a suite of solutions to ensuring your brand is spotted on the darkest of days, or throughout the night. Understanding what would work best for your space is where expertise come in. Consider the budget you want to spend on lit products and with that in mind consider how long they need to be used – is it a temporary solution or will it need to be used for the foreseeable future?
Will your sign be facing the elements on a building, sporting ground or on a vehicle? You’re going to need a guarantee that the material used will withstand the test of time against the elements.
How long do you intend to use your sign? Does it need to be replaceable in the not too distant future? Signage isn’t always solid, heavy, fixtures. There are solutions that allow your brand to stand out from the crowd and allow you to easily replace the fixture, as well as use clever lighting.
When choosing a signage provider, consider:
- the brands they have worked with in the past.
- Their in house printing and manufacturing capabilities
- The size of their operation (can thy handle your order?)
- Their customer feedback – check their website for testimonials or Google reviews.

Printing and installing signage all of the UK is the everyday bread and butter for Cardiff based Dragon Signs. But every so often, an opportunity presents itself that leads the way to mixing business with pleasure. Combining their love and passion for everything sport, Dragon Signs has taken two leaps into the sponsorship arena.
Firstly, in January 2018, a three year sponsorship deal was struck with one of the oldest cricket clubs in Wales, Cardiff Cricket Club.
On sponsoring the club, Rhys Harrington, Director of Dragon Signs, comments “As you can imagine, we are delighted to be sponsoring one of the leading cricket clubs in the UK over the next three years. From their ambitious senior teams, dedication to youth cricket and their close links to schools, it is an honour to be involved with a thriving and integral club in the world of cricket. Cardiff Cricket club is close to our hearts at Dragon Signs and we look forward to encouraging, supporting and cheering all sections for many years to come.”
Closely following suit in February 2018, Operations Director Mike Roach quite literally got his skates to be one of the first businesses to sponsor Xtreme Edges. A business that provides hockey orientated skating tuition in Cardiff. Mike said “We are so proud to be involved in the “Learn to skate” programme devised by the talented guys at Xtreme Edges.
Dragon Signs has been involved with Hockey on both a business and personal level over the past ten years, so we are so pleased to be part of a program that will predominantly encourage children into the industry of Hockey.”
